Thursday Angel
Hard to feel I’m waking
A grey morning has set
And I’m driven by the craving
For coffee and cigarettes
And I remember you, Thursday angel,
As a sun ray pierces through the skies.
I walk down to the city
Despite the fog and the headline news
People look pale and sickly
With that Monday morning blues
And I think of you, Thursday angel,
As the mist is lifted from my eyes.
On Tuesday the sky looks glum
With promises of rain
And my mind has become numb
Waiting for delayed trains
And I long for you, Thursday angel,
As high up above, a seagull cries.
Wednesday night’s horrendous
The sky’s unleashed a storm
The station is in chaos
And it’s pouring down on the platform
And I yearn for you, Thursday angel,
As the rain falls deep into my heart.
Another week has gone
And yet again my spirit has been rained on
Sure, it may be to much for some
But to me it matters none,
‘cause my heart lives in the sun.
Hard to believe I’m standing
Right here at your door
Another week’s gone begging
And I’m still alive and sure
That I’m here for you, Thursday angel
‘Cause all I wish for shine in your eyes.
